Keep Your Computer Running Smooth and Fast!
When a computer becomes slow to boot and then slow in all of its operations, it has given a signal that something is wrong internally. There are cases where some physical part of the computer's hardware is damaged and this causing the slowdown, However in 95+% of the cases, a slow computer is a sign that either spyware or viruses are present in the computer or the operating system has corrupt registry files.
This article assumes the computer owner has a virus and spyware program installed and it automatically runs everyday. It also assumes the spyware and virus protection software is of high quality and its definitions are kept up to date. It furthermore, assumes the program is capable of catching any new parasite that could be thrown in its direction. This is very important because as computer engineer and virus expert Hiel Strassman has said, “An antivirus/antispyware program that is 99% effective, is actually totally ineffective in the real world.”
Still, in cases where we are sure everything that can be done, is being done as far as protecting the computer from viruses and spyware, there must be something hurting a computer's performance if it is running slowly. So let's look at registry corruption and the effect it has on a computer's ability to function normally and why.
The Leftovers
When any software, whether it is a driver or an application of some kind, requires writing code into the operating system's registry. When this software is removed, many of the entries that have entered into the registry are left behind. It is not that these programs are out to do harm to the computer, it is just that their removal programs aren't sophisticated enough to deal with every entry that has been added to the registry.
Fixing Registry Errors is a Must For Top Computer Speed
Though this may sound like the program software remover writers always write sloppy removal instructions, this is not really the case. When software is installed, it is a joint effort of the operating system, the software installation instructions and the API, which is a layer of instructions that does not end up being standard from computer to computer. So, software removal can be a somewhat ambiguous operation.
In any case, software that is removed from a PC inevitably leaves entries in the registry that make the operating system work harder than it should have to. These entries in the registry are known as registry corruption and, of course when there is a lot of it, the computer will act like it can't get out of its own way!
Spyware Causes a Multitude of Problems
A key point is, all types of malware; viruses, spyware, etc are all types of software and when they are removed, they leave registry corruption. So, if you have a spyware remover, for instance, do the good deed of removing spyware, you are likely to be left with a corrupt registry, which will continue to make the computer perform poorly.
So this is our quandary, we do are best to keep our PC's free of all types of malicious software such as viruses and spyware and when we are successful in doing so, we end up with a slow computer anyway!
This is how it is in today's computing world. The operating systems, Windows XP and Vista are very large. Malware code is very complicated. The result is registry corruption has become our number 2 problem villain that runs a close second behind malware.
These things weren't the case just a few years back but we definitely have to deal with them now. Therefore, a good registry cleaner has become a necessary tool we need to add to our arsenal so we can keep our computers running fast and performing and performing at their best.
